Running DNN From The Root, Godaddy.com
Modified By admin on 3/15/2008 4:44:38 PM)

Alright, I have now updated the walkthrough (located on the walkthrough pages here) to work with the new permission settings for IIS 6 and IIS 7 based hosting accounts for Godaddy.com.  These were recent installations done with 4.8.1 at this time and they work great so far. If you find any issues please post them here or send them to me directly, thanks everyone.

Re: Running The Installation & Clean Up Steps, Godaddy.com

The first thing that we would need to confirm is what your line 97 of the web.config actually is, though it should be "<add name="Exception" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Exceptions.ExceptionModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules" />".  This is one of the httpmodules used by DNN for functionality, this is normally referring to a module/DLL file located in the Bin directory though I am not completely sure which one.  The first one I would think of would be an issue with the DotNetNuke.HttpModules.dll file in that directory.  I will do a little research over the next few days as unfortunately I have some family plans/issues that have to be resolved so it won't be right away.  Hope what I have here gives you some leads/ideas of where to go, for instance checking to make sure all files got uploaded in the bin directory.

Re: Running The Installation & Clean Up Steps, Godaddy.com

The only thing that would have changed my line number would be the information that i filled in.  cause my line 97 points to <add name="Compression" type="DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression.CompressionModule, DotNetNuke.HttpModules" /> cause of godaddys long server name and what not.  but when ever you can help me its greatly appreciated...

Re: Running The Installation & Clean Up Steps, Godaddy.com

Unfortunately I do not have AIM, but my Yahoo ID is darkon1365, which you can add me.  Just include in your message your username from here and that this is concerning the DNN issue.  I will try to be online tonight to assist you, but am not sure.  This still seems to be an issue with the corresponding DLL file in the bin directory, though I have to verify which file is the one in question.  I did a quick search while on break at work and unfortunately I could not really find anything useful. This does not seem to be an error with steps you followed but with the actual Compression assembly itself.  You want to consider re-uploading all of the files in the bin directory again in case any were corrupted or lost, preferably in binary mode as they are compiled files. I am a little surprised that on line 97 you have the line you mentioned, seems to be a little far down personally, but without seeing your entire web.config it makes it hard to confirm that it is correct. You may want to try a search at DotNetNuke.com to see what you can find.
